Isaiah 41.13-20, Psalm 145.1, 8-13, Matthew 11.11-15
Isaiah reassures the weary: “I am the Lord your God… I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you.” God’s care is not abstract or distant; it is personal, attentive, and active. Even in the wilderness of life, God promises to make streams flow and to provide nourishment where none seems possible. What appears desolate becomes a place of life, and hope is restored.
Psalm 145 echoes this divine faithfulness. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. God’s kingdom endures through generations, and his care extends to all creatures. In every act of provision, protection, and patience, we see a God who is attentive to the smallest and the weakest, yet mighty in strength.
In Matthew, Jesus reminds us that the kingdom of God often comes in unexpected ways. The least in the kingdom may be greater than the greatest of former expectations, and John the Baptist, a voice crying in the wilderness, points to the transformative work of God already at hand.
As Christians, we are called to trust, proclaim, and live within this steadfast care. May we remember that even in dry places, God provides, strengthens, and guides us, and may we reflect that same compassion to all whom we encounter.
