Isaiah 60.19, 20, Psalm 36.5, 6a, 7-11, 2 Corinthians 4.6-15, Luke 11.33-36
Isaiah speaks of a light that never fades. God becomes our everlasting glory; night no longer covers the earth, and sorrow gives way to radiant hope. This is not merely poetic imagery, but a promise that God’s presence transforms every shadow, illuminating hearts and lives with steadfast love.
Psalm 36 celebrates the depth of God’s mercy. God’s love is higher than the heavens, and God’s faithfulness reaches to the clouds. In God’s light, we find life and sustenance; in God’s presence, we are refreshed and secure. To dwell in this light is to experience refuge, abundance, and joy.
Paul, in 2 Corinthians, reminds us that the light of Christ shines even in our fragile human vessels. Our weakness is a canvas for God’s power, and suffering is a seed that produces endurance, character, and hope. Death and decay cannot extinguish the eternal life revealed in Jesus Christ.
In Luke, Jesus calls us to vigilance: a lamp is not hidden but placed to give light to all. As Christians, we are invited to let Christ’s light shine through our lives, reflecting God’s mercy, sustaining hope, and guiding others. May our hearts, clear and open, radiate the glory of the One whose light overcomes all darkness.
