Jeremiah 31.7-14, Psalm 147.13-end, Ephesians 1.3-14, John 1.[1-9] 10-18
Jeremiah paints a picture of God gathering the scattered and mourning with love. The exiled are called home; sorrow is transformed into joy. God’s care is tender yet mighty, restoring the flock with nourishment and protection. The promise reminds us that God’s faithfulness is not dependent on human merit but flows from divine compassion.
Psalm 147 echoes this joy, celebrating God who heals, feeds, and sustains. God’s care extends to all creation and every human heart. God strengthens the powerless, rebuilds the city, and delights in those who fear and trust him. Praise becomes both recognition and response to God’s ongoing work in the world.
Paul in Ephesians reminds us that God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. From before the foundation of the world, God chose, redeemed, and adopted us. We are claimed and sealed by the Spirit, incorporated into God’s unfolding plan, and called to live in the light of this eternal purpose.
John’s Gospel draws us into the mystery of the Word made flesh. The true light shines in the darkness, and the Word dwells among us, full of grace and truth.
As believers, we are invited to rejoice in God’s mercy, live in the light of Christ, and bear witness to the faithful love that gathers, restores, and sustains.
Prayer
Faithful God,
you gather us in love, restore our hearts, and fill us with joy.
Open our eyes to your light, strengthen us in your Spirit,
and help us live as your redeemed children,
proclaiming your mercy and grace to the world.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
